Hello Folks
This Easter I met with my OCA friends for a weekend on the magical waters of the Norfolk Broads.
I arrived on Friday afternoon and once tents were up and gear sorted some of us decided to go for a paddle to Neatishead and back.
We were based at Barton Turf Adventure Centre which is a great venue as there is good access to the water a nearby nature reserve and the wonderful hospitality of our hosts Simon and Sheila. My good friend Nick Dennis had organised the Event and with a whole bank holiday at our disposal we were sure of a good time.
Whilst people were getting boats into the water I took a few pictures of Al with Ruby in his latest acquisition which is a UFO (unidentified floating object!) I am calling The wide Boy on account of its width which is close on 43 inches!

as others kept a close eye on water levels in their lovely wide board and batten canoe.
On this occasion we had an easy paddle over to Neatishead as the water was fairly flat and the wind was minimal. I did this trip several times during the weekend and this is not always the case as the wind can whip up large waves particularly in the middle of the broad itself. Neatishead is the end of a channel which is lined with trees.

There are also a few moorings which can become crowded particularly at peak times like bank holidays.
We returned to base where Nick unveiled his latest project which is a lovely rowing skiff called Algonquin. Here's Al looking over Algonquin.
A short while later we retired to the Fur and Feathers for a meal and to check out the Woodfordes Ales which are brewed there.
